The elderly are particularly susceptible to heat stress, and it's important to keep your aging loved ones and elderly neighbors safe during the summer - especially if they are without air conditioning. A few safety tips for caregivers:
- check on the elderly a few times a day during the summer months
- help them obtain home air conditioning
- take them on outings to places with air conditioning, especially if they are unable to drive themselves
- supply them with electric fans
